STATE OF NEW JERSEYPlease take notice that the Annual Schedule of meetings of the Wanaque Mayor and Council for the Calendar Year 2010 is as follows and will be held at the Wanaque Municipal Building, 579 Ringwood Avenue, Wanaque, New Jersey. The Work Meeting is at 7:00 P.M. and the Regular Meeting is at 8:00 P.M. unless otherwise specified.

SPECIAL NOTICE
The Planning Board of the Borough of Wanaque will hold a public hearing on the Highlands Element of the Master Plan and the COAH Housing Element on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 579 Ringwood Avenue, Wanaque, NJ.

2010 Municipal Budget Information
The Borough Council had introduced the 2010 Municipal Budget, which meets the 4% cap on the tax levy. The public hearing on the budget will be held on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. at Borough Hall, 579 Ringwood Avenue, Wanaque, NJ. A copy of the budget is available here.

Design Renovation at Wanaque Public Library
Library is now on this special schedule:The Wanaque Public Library is approaching a special schedule to make way for a long planned design renovation of the upstairs Adult Reading Room. The Library will be open during its regular schedule throughout the construction HOWEVER we will offer only minimal services through the downstairs Children's Reading Room. Beginning Monday, March 15, 2010, the upstairs Adult Reading Room will be closed to the public entirely. On that day, March 15, 2010, the Children's Reading Room ( downstairs ) will begin to offer minimal services to both children and adults. All public entry to the Library will take place through the elevator or the south-side stairwell to the basement. There will be no public access to the upstairs floor for the course of Phase One Renovation.
From the Children's Reading Room ( downstairs ) Wanaque Library staff will offer the usual services however, there will be no access to adult book shelves or the Wanaque Public Library adult book collection except for the best sellers and new non-fiction. That is, the NEW BOOKS shelf WILL be available downstairs with both fiction bestsellers and new non-fiction for your borrowing. All requests for interlibrary loans from other PALS Plus County libraries will be processed for you at your request by Wanaque staff as usual, but from computers in the Children's Reading Room. All your books returned from interlibrary loan may still be returned to Wanaque Public Library for delivery as usual and you may still pick up all your loan requests here in the Children's Room.
For the duration of Phase One Renovation only, adult public access computers with Internet access WILL be available in the Children's Reading Room for adult use. There will be three public access computers with Internet access available for adult use and two special public access computers with Internet access reserved for the needs and use of children only.
This schedule and plan will be in effect from Monday, March 15, 2010 through early August 2010. Please watch for updates for exact timeline as the project continues.All programs will of course be greatly adapted to this Phase One Renovation schedule. However, AARP tax prep for seniors of moderate means WILL proceed in the Board Room as usual with entrance through the elevator. There will be NO Storytime or children's crafts during Phase One Renovation. Regular Storytime and children's crafts will resume in spring 2010.

Child ID Cards Now Available at County Clerk Satellite Sites
Child ID Cards are being offered by Passaic County free of charge at all Satellite Sites.
To obtain a Child ID Card for children between the ages of 3 to 17 years old, the following documentation must be presented:
The child's citizenship or legal status must be proven and one (1) of the following items must be presented:
- U.S. Birth Certificate with parents' names listed. If not in English, must be translated and notarized.
- Valid U.S. Passport
- Naturalization Certificate / American Citizen Certificate
- Alien Registration Card
If child has other than natural parent(s), one of the following must be presented:
- Adoption Decree
- Court Order of Custody
- Court Order of Guardianship
Proof of Passaic County Residency:
- A recent mailing (within the last three months) to the parent at the home address.
Parent of Legal Guardian must be present and provide either a valid NJ Driver's License or U.S. Passport or two (2) of the following items:
- Social Security Card
- Naturalization Certificate
- Alien Registration Card
- Government or Military ID Card
The other services offered by the County Clerk's Office at the satellite sites are:
- Processing of Passport Applications, Renewals, and taking of Passport Photos
- Notary Public Applications, Administration of Oaths, Renewals, and ID with Photo
- Trade Name Search and Registration

Vegetative Waste Collection
Grass, leaves, and brush are collected by the Borough once per week except during winter months. Beginning. March 18, items should be placed at the curb on Sunday evening. The speed of collection differs each week. Brush must be cut into four foot lengths and tied. Grass and leaves must be in garbage cans or paper, biodegradable bags. Biodegradable bags can be purchased at the Health Department Office in Borough Hall. The cost is $1.00 for 3 bags, or $12.00 for a bundle of 50 bags.
Garbage Collection Alert!
A new contractor is collecting the garbage and recycling. While collection days remain the same, the routes may be different. Residents must have their garbage and recycling at the curb no later than 6:30 AM on the day of collection.
Please remember to call Borough Hall for metal recycling pick-up.

The Wanaque Borough Free Public Library is sponsoring an online Kiosk on this Website. Please take a minute and visit. Many subscription online information resources are being made available for Wanaque Public Library members for free through this Kiosk, and, of course, in our Library at 616 Ringwood Avenue. Worn Flag Deposit Box
James McCartney VFW Post has placed a 'WORN FLAG DEPOSIT BOX' outside the Post home at 425 Ringwood Avenue, for all who wish to dispose of their worn or tattered US Flags. In this way, the VFW can dispose of them in a dignified manner as prescribed in the bylaws and regulations of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. US flags should never be disposed of in a disrespectful manner such disposing of them with the weekly garbage collection. The collection box is for US FLAGS ONLY.
