A Special Meeting of the
Mayor and Council of the Borough of Wanaque was held on Monday, September 29,
2008 at 7:00 P.M. in the
The Mayor called the meeting to order with the flag salute.
ROLL CALL:
On roll call, the following Council Members responded: Balunis, Cisco, Pettet and Theoharous. Councilmen O’Connell and Theoharous. The Borough Attorney and Borough Engineer were absent. The Municipal Clerk was absent. The Mayor declared a quorum.
The Mayor read the following Sunshine Statement: Adequate notice of this meeting has been provided by the Mayor and Council by e-mailing notice of this meeting to the Suburban Trends and the Herald News newspapers on September 18, 2008 stating therein that this meeting would be held on Monday, September 29, 2008 at the time of 7:00 P.M., in the Wanaque Municipal Building, 579 Ringwood Avenue, Wanaque, New Jersey, and a copy of this notice was posted on the bulletin board in the Wanaque Municipal Building on September 18, 2008, and a copy is on file in the office of the Municipal Clerk.

Re: Award Bid – Haskell Firehouse Addition
The Borough Administrator explained the bids received.
On entertainment of the Mayor, Councilman Theoharous and Councilwoman Cisco moved that,
WHEREAS, the Borough of Wanaque advertised for and received bids on
September 25, 2008 for an addition to the Haskell Firehouse, receiving bids from the following:

WHEREAS, upon review of the bid submitted by Double Eagle Construction that there were significant deficiencies in the bid, including but not limited to no surety bond or bid bond being submitted; and
WHEREAS, upon review of the next lowest bid, Walter H. Poppe General Contracting, it was found that the bid was responsible and responsive and meets the requirements of N.J.S.A. 40A:11-1 et. Seq.;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a contract be awarded to Walter H. Poppe General contracting, 799 Susquehanna Avenue, Franklin Lakes, N.J. at a base bid of $252,000.00 and alternate #2 of $12,000.00 for a total contract award of $264,000.00; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief Financial Officer has certified that funds are available in budget accounts X-GC-03-345-201, $160,000.00 and X-GC-03-349-201, $104,000.00.
On roll call, all voted yes, and the Mayor declared the motion carried.
PUBLIC DISCUSSION:
The Mayor opened the Public Discussion.
Dave DaSilva, 108 Monroe Street, Haskell is all of the funding together for this with the first one and the second one it covers a hundred percent.
The Borough Administrator said yes.
Dave DaSilva said and Chief did you get a chance to look at the specs.
Tad Skawinski, Fire Chief said yes I did. I looked over them with the architect originally and it seems like it’s going to suit what we need.
Dave DaSilva said excellent and you’re happy.
Tad Skawinski said yes.
Dave DaSilva said okay great. Thank you.
The Mayor closed the public discussion.
ADJOURNMENT:
On entertainment of the Mayor, Councilmen Balunis and Pettet moved a motion to adjourn the meeting.
On roll call, all voted yes, and the Mayor declared the motion carried; meeting adjourned at 7:05 P.M.
